Palace of Fine Arts

San Francisco is a wonderful town in so many ways.  There is just so much to photograph there that you can literally never get it all done.  But it's fun to keep trying!  This is the Palace of Fine Arts.  It is a lovely structure and was originally built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exhibition and inspired by Roman and Greek architectural elements.  As you can see there is a nice lagoon in front and I have read that this is a very popular spot for wedding photographs.  I can see why!  I found myself there, sort of by accident, having been walking in the area when I spotted the top of the dome rising above everything else.  Someday I would love to shoot this at sunset or at night - I imagine it looks magical.
