Sunset at the Jefferson Memorial

I was in Washington DC for a little while last week and found the time to slip away with my camera.  How can you not, when so close to such great photographic opportunities? I only had a little while but I moved fast and squeezed in a lot.  As sunset approached, I found myself nearing the Jefferson Memorial - but I never made it all the way there.  I could see it in the distance, and I keep walking towards it, but I never seemed to make it all the way around this lake you see here, so I finally gave up and just resolved to make it inside next time. There was also some major construction going on, so I didn't want to risk walking all the way there, only to get turned away by a "Closed for Repairs" sign or something.  In other words, I didn't want to be Clark Griswold at Wally World.  So I got the shot I could get - sunset, interesting clouds, reflections in the lake, and the beautiful structure from a distance.
